NISC Adds Identity & Access Management to Cybersecurity Suite

Expansion of Cyber Services Brings NISC Members an Additional Layer of Security

Mandan, N.D., Nov. 8, 2022 – National Information Solutions Cooperative (NISC), a leading provider of software and solutions to utility and broadband companies, announced today the addition of Identity & Access Management to their Cybersecurity Services offerings.

A layered approach to protecting valuable assets is crucial to cybersecurity, and the addition of Identity & Access Management will further fortify NISC Members’ cybersecurity posture. Identity & Access Management encompasses tools such as Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Single Sign-On (SSO), which play an integral role in a sound cybersecurity strategy.

Too often the security of your organization relies solely on a simple password. With Identity & Access Management, organizations can verify users by requiring a combination of credentials. Verification can be done in seconds by using another source, such as a phone or token, before granting access to business-critical data. Additionally, back-end admin tools can provide detailed device and detection reporting.

“NISC is as committed to delivering effective and affordable cybersecurity tools as we are on fortifying our networks and our data,” said Greg Bortz, Member Services & Information Technology Manager for Price Electric Cooperative. “NISC adding this service to their suite of cyber offerings makes it that much easier for Price Electric Cooperative to continue to enhance and strengthen our cybersecurity program and better protect our organization.”

NISC worked with Duo Security, a part of Cisco Secure, to bring this offering to the NISC Membership. These MFA and SSO tools provide dynamic, user-friendly authentication to verify users quickly and securely. Identity & Access Management will also provide powerful device monitoring and management as well as anomalous access detection

“Multi-Factor and Single Sign-On Authentication is another critical piece of a sound cybersecurity plan and a key piece to the security puzzle,” said Jeremy Schoneberg, NISC Team Lead Information Security. “There is no such thing as an organization completely impervious to all cyberthreats out there, but the goal here is to educate the staff, learn where the weaknesses are and execute programs and services to make it incredibly hard for cybercriminals to successfully target your organization.”

This newest addition joins NISC’s already robust cybersecurity suite that consists of Education, Endpoint Protection, Incident Detection & Response, Perimeter Defense, Vulnerability Management, Patch Management & Automation and Backup Management.

With NISC’s Identity & Access Management, your organization can greatly reduce risk – and make security resilience more manageable. To learn more about NISC’s Cybersecurity Services, please visit www.cybersecurity.coop or contact us at cyber@nisc.coop.
